Relationship Counter privacy policy

Effective 16 October 2026. Applies to the Relationship Counter app for iOS and Android, published by Four Sails.

The short version: Relationship Counter keeps everything you enter on your own device. We do not run accounts, we do not collect analytics, we show no ads, and we never sell data. If you choose to share with your partner, the items you share are also kept on our sync server so both phones match; nothing is sent until you pair. The only other third party is the company that handles in-app purchases.

What the app stores, and where

Relationship Counter saves the information you enter in local storage inside the app's private storage on your phone. That includes:

None of this leaves your device unless you export it yourself or turn on sharing (below).

Your phone's own backup (for example iCloud or Google backup) may include the app's data, under Apple's or Google's terms, if you have backups turned on.

Sharing with your partner (optional)

Relationship Counter works entirely on your phone until you choose to share. Nothing is sent anywhere, and the app does not contact our server, until you open Share with partner and create or enter a six-digit code.

When you do, the app signs in to our sync server anonymously: it gets a random account ID with no name, email or phone number attached. From then on the server keeps a copy of what you share so both phones stay in step: the two names, the date you got together, and the dates you add (title, date and the yearly and reminder switches). Per-phone settings such as reminder times are never shared.

The sync server is a database run for us by Supabase in the United States. Database access rules ensure that only the two paired phones can read or change your shared items. We do not look at them, except to troubleshoot when you ask us to. Like any internet service, Supabase sees the IP address your phone connects from and keeps standard request logs for a limited time; see the Supabase privacy policy. A pairing code expires after 10 minutes.

Tap Stop sharing on either phone to leave the pair; that phone keeps its own copy. When both phones have left, the pair and every shared item are deleted from the server. To have the anonymous account ID removed as well, email us.

Exports you choose to share

With Pro you can export your dates as a JSON file from Settings. An export happens only when you tap the button; you pick where the file goes using your phone's share sheet, and whatever app or service you send it to handles it under its own policy.

Notifications

Reminders for anniversaries, milestones and your own dates are local notifications scheduled on your phone; no push server is involved. The app asks for permission when you first turn reminders on, and you can turn notifications off at any time in your phone's settings.

Home-screen widget

The home-screen widget shows your day count and the next dates. To draw it, the app saves a short summary (names, start date and the next two dates) in storage shared only with its own widget on your phone. It never leaves the device.

In-app purchases

Paid features are sold through the App Store and Google Play. To unlock them and to restore purchases, the app uses RevenueCat. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app-user identifier (a random ID generated on your device, not linked to your name or email) and purchase receipt information from the store. It uses this to confirm which features you have paid for. RevenueCat's handling of that data is described in the RevenueCat privacy policy. Apple and Google process the payment itself under their own privacy policies; we never see your payment details.

What we do not do

Children

Relationship Counter is a general-purpose app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children; as described above, the app does not collect personal information from anyone.

Deleting your data

Uninstalling Relationship Counter removes everything stored on your phone. You can also delete individual items inside the app. If you were sharing, items you shared stay on your partner's phone and on the server until both phones have stopped sharing; then the server copy is deleted. If you exported a file, delete that file wherever you saved it.

Future changes

If a future version adds features that move data off the device, we will update this policy first and tell you inside the app before anything is sent. Features like that will be opt-in. The effective date at the top of this page changes whenever the policy does.
